Mayor Raymond G. Jala of the Municipality of Loboc vehemently denies the statement in an article from the Bohol Chronicle dated January 14, 2024, which claims that the LGU is questioning the implementation of the riprapping (sheet piling) project of DPWH 3rd District.

To recall, local officials have already initiated a coordination meeting with Bishop Abet Uy regarding his Facebook post concerning the same project. The entire concept of the project was explained to and understood by Bishop Uy, who recognized it as the best solution to the municipality's long-standing concern about the destabilized riverbanks due to climate change and severe weather disturbances. Consequently, the municipality expressed gratitude upon the approval of the request. "How can we question the same project that we have requested for so many times, for such a long time now?" emphasized Mayor Jala in an exclusive conference.

The Loboc River Protection Project is a priority project initiated during the term of former Mayor Leon Calipusan, funded by GAA FY 2022, and implemented by DPWH 3rd Engineering District. Fortunately, with the strong support of the Local Government and 3rd District Congresswoman Alexi Tutor, who heeded the clamor of the Lobocanons for another phase of the project to cover the remaining areas needing rehabilitation, phase 2 was approved for an additional 7 areas that urgently require such a project. To clarify, the article stating that LGU Lobos is questioning the riprapping project is absolutely not true and merely a misreporting by Tagbilaran Baywatch.

Additionally, Vice Mayor Helen Alaba, the SB Presiding Officer, clarified that there was NO resolution issued by the Sangguniang Bayan of Lohoc suspending the riprapping project.

Moreover, LGU Loboc is supporting the position of the DPWH and President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., that based on experts opinion, Dredging can never solve flooding.

Furthermore, Mayor Jala vehemently denies the news release claiming that the LGU Loboc has already filed a temporary restraining order against Boheco 1. No case has been filed. As of the current date, LGU Loboc and LGU Sevilla have conducted a series of dialogue with BOHECO 1 on the needed protocol in case of typhoons or heavy rain advisory. We even invited PAGASA to to give their inputs and guide us on the best possible plan. In fact, Boheco I, LGU Loboc and LGU Sevilla have already reached an agreement on the protocol to be implemented in case of typhoons and/or heavy rain advisory to best protect lives and properties.

These initiatives clearly demonstrates Mayor Jala's dedication to the safety and well-being of the Loboc residents and is totally supported by our 3rd District Representative Hon. Kristine Alexie B. Tutor- who has always poured her dedication towards the development of Loboc , the DPWH specially the 3rd Engineering District whose able assistance is of great importance in the implementation of the projects and Provincial Governor Hon.Aristotle Aumentado who constantly ensures the common good of the Lobocanons.
